Joining a large club of generous dance music producers, Mat Zo was the latest to announce via Facebook and Twitter, that all future releases would be uploaded to Soundcloud, with the option for a free download, with a simple mouse click. Not one to be left behind, he also stated that these tracks would skip a label release and directly be uploaded as & when he’d finish the final touches.
If you follow his Twitter, you already know Matan loves to rant about anything and everything thats on his mind. Taking to twitter, Mat Zo publicly announced the royalties that he received for the entirety of his first studio album, “Damage Control,” summed up to be barely $2800. Mat makes it clear through additional tweets that what hhe cares about more than torrenting, concert attendance, and royalties, is that his music is being heard. As a result, he’s announced that all future releases will be made available for free.
His first release is Old Skool Trip a retro-house/nu disco production which is basically a funky mixture of a plucked bassline and chopped retro vocal samples all layered over a clapping bass-tap. It’s a perfect tribute to old school hip-hop, retro house and groovy disco. As the vocal sample goes, God did make him funky.
