It was truly disappointing to hear the dance music community losing one of its most coveted pioneers, Frankie Knuckles last week. Radio 1 however, is doing the world some good, and paying its respects in fine fashion. Long lost and featuring only on a DAT tape, Frankie’s 2000 Essential Mix, that was recorded in Ibiza, has been made available for streaming online. Not only that, the entire two hour set will be played this Friday, April 4, on 1Xtra from 2AM to 4AM GMT.
Stream it now, or wait until Friday to tune in with the entire dance music community, reminiscing some of the finest dance music from the Godfather of house to have made its way to our ears once again.
