The best week of the year neared its completion, as the famed MMW (Miami Music Week) gathered the Dance Music Royalty into the bustling sun kissed city of Miami and towards the prestigious 29th Annual International Dance Music Awards (IDMA). Held at the iconic Winter Music Conference every year, the IDMA is a fan-based awards platform and with a voting audience of 2 million from over 209 countries this year, it makes one of the most important award shows across the dance music spectrum. Besides awarding current talents and Dance Music heavyweights for their outstanding efforts, the awards honor industry legends as well as emerging talents.

This year, the biggest winner was once again Dutch Trance Legend Armin Van Buuren, as he walked away with no less than 8 awards! With the prize of Best Producer, Best Trance DJ, Best Solo Artist, Best Trance Track, Best Featured Vocalist Performance, Best Music Video for “This Is What It Feels Like,” Best Compilation for A State of Trance 2013 and Best Podcast for A State of Trance, Armin emerged as the biggest winner of the night! Second in number of wins was Dutch sensation Martin Garrix, as he took home Best Electro/Progressive House track for “Animals,” Best Break-Through DJ and Best Solo Break-Through Artist, adding yet another milestone is already-stellar career!

DJ Mag World number 1 Hardwell got a double as well as he took the prize of Best Global DJ and Best Progressive House/Electro DJ, while Steve Aoki took the prize of Best North American DJ – an important victory, for its the country that has emphasized the big boom of Dance Music. While Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike took home the Best European DJ, Swedish powerhouse Avicii took home the award for Best EDM/Pop DJ.

 

 

 

In terms of Best Music event, the award went to the iconic Tomorrowland Festival for a second time in a row! Best US Club went to Space in Miami, FL whereas Space, Ibiza won the prestigious title of Best Global Club.

 

 

 

Green Velvet‘s famous ‘Bigger than Prince‘ win the award for Best Underground Dance Track, whereas Tiga vs Audion‘s ‘Let’s go Dancing took home the award for Best Electro/Tech House track. Kaskade‘s ‘Floating‘ won for Best Chillout/Lounge track whereas ‘Holdin’ On (Skrillex & Nero Mix)‘ won for Best Dubstep/DnB track.
