The Bitwig team based in Berlin, has officially launched their cross platform digital audio workstation (DAW) this week after taking long time in development. It has been claimed that it is “the next generation of music creation software”. Bitwig Studio 1.0 is said to offer unprecedented workflow possibilities that breakthrough through creative boundaries, offering a fresh start using the latest development tools of today.
Bitwig Studio posses striking similarities to the popular DAW “Ableton Live” , maybe due to the fact that some of the Bitwig team members were Ableton Live’s original developers. The most prominent similarity between the two is its dual-window interface analogous to Ableton’s session and arrangement view. But apart from similarities with Ableton, Bitwig have a number of additional features as well. Here are a few below which caught our attention:
- Open multiple projects at the same time
- Plug-in sandboxing
- Open controller API
- Unified modelling system
This new DAW is available for Linux operating system users as well apart from Mac and Windows. Bitwig Studio 1.0 is currently priced for $399.99. You can buy the software or try out the demo version via Bitwig. To get a better idea of what Bitwig is all about, watch this video below:
