It’s rather rare in the current scenario to find well-rounded artists who can sing, write, produce and DJ, Collin McLoughlin is one of the few names who are exceptional at all these skills. Collin first started pursuing music as a songwriter/singer and rapidly grew to become a YouTube sensation with over 15 million views on his acoustic covers of popular hits. His performance on The Voice further confirmed his vocal aptitude.

In the past year, his productions have even been making waves within the realms of dance music. Having made a name for himself as the vocalist for well-known hits, “Heartbeat” and “Collide“, Collin successfully established his niche in the industry. After his vocal collaborations with artists such as Vicetone, Laidback Luke and Project 46, he shocked us with his own productions of melodic dubstep tunes and remixes.

This all new remix of Deathcab For Cutie‘s hit, “Transatlanticism” is another extraordinary piece from Collin, with a sound he describes as ‘Exotic Sting Ray’. He does an impeccable job with the remix whilst taking a serene, transcendental approach which makes the outcome a beautiful and powerful rework. Talking about his journey of making the track, that really started many years ago he said;

“‘Transatlanticism’ has always been my favourite song by the group. I can remember playing the song on my CD player at home when I was young, wondering how they were able to craft such a sonic landscape that continued to build and evolve throughout the track. It is a beautiful piece of art, and one that still impacts me when I hear it to this day. After my move from NYC to LA, I decided to take a stab at reworking this classic song. I opted to re-sing the vocals myself, and altered the production to suit my more melodic bass style.”

Collin’s rework kicks off with his captivating vocals accompanied by the tranquil sounds of piano and progresses to a heavy melodic bass drop. This isn’t the first time McLoughlin has left us stunned by his talent in the last few months and from what we can tell, it’s not even half of what he’s shown us or is capable of, all we know is he’s one to watch out for.
