Porter Robinson – Flicker (Original Mix)

  Even while we’re literally a fortnight away from the release of Porter Robinson‘s highly anticipated ‘Worlds‘ album, he’s still churning out previews of his singles for us to get a better sense to not expect the usual! Another direction taken with his latest single ‘Flicker‘, Robinson seems to be breaking any metaphoric barriers of music making, as he frees himself from the chains of genre fixation.

  The track moves over elements of funk, down tempo, progressive and even elements of breakbeat, as he mixes up musical hues to paint a canvas of absolutely vivid sound shades. Out of all the tracks, he’s unleashed thus far, this one certainly goes way point the rest just in terms of a quantitative analysis. With much happening, boxing down this track for any one setting would be a mistake, making it a track for every occasion or just a indefinable quality of freedom, that Porter always aims for his music anyway.
