Duck Sauce, the super DJ duo A-Trak and Armand van Helden, have released a new EP called Duck Droppings. Once you look past the title, it’s quite an enticing 4 track EP, and its available for free.
The first track Party In Me has got a very retro disco vibe. It sort of borders on nu-disco with a harder beat and a lot of funk elements in the mix, including bass guitar work, and pan flute melodies.
Louie The First contains samples from the eternally gold Hot Chocolate’s Brother Louie, which coincidentally is the theme song to comedian Louis C.K.’s TV Show. It’s the skillful vocal sampling from the original done over a breakbeat.
Calamari (Put The Sauce On It) is a deep house/funk production that breaks into a very funky, almost Mediterranean guitar riff. That coupled with the jumpy vocal sample “Put the sauce on it” makes for a very upbeat, happy production
Mondo is a clear cut disco/house production, that again contains samples of wonderful instrumentation, alot more smoother than the rest of the tracks but still maintains that very fresh disco feel.
