ATB – Contact (Album Minimix)
A-T-B. Three letters that have spawned a generation of creativity through the simple and audience-devoted soundscapes of Andre Tanneberger. Composing music since 1993, ATB has since released 8 artist albums, countless remixes, a Seven Years Compilation album, all besides the legendary “DJ in the Mix” series. The world awaits with bated breath as the German trance pioneer releases his highly anticipated 9th Studio album ‘Contact’ on the prestigious Kontor Records label this January the 24th!
ATB has released a special mini-mix that reveals the entire tracklist for the album besides a short sneak-peek into each track! What is immediately evident is the fact that ATB has collaborated with many artists on his new venture, using the services of JES, Taylr, Tiff Lacey, York, Vanessa, JanSoon and more, on the two CD album. The first CD goes on experimental grounds, as ATB explores various genres and tries to integrate them with the Trance atmospherics he’s so well renowned for. The second CD, however explores the various textures of Chill-out, Progressive & Trance – genres more closer to the heart of ATB. Here’s what ATB had to say about his ninth album.
“Sadly, electronic music often has a tendency to sound too impersonal, too rational. Hard and danceable, that’s all. For me, I want to convey emotions, so I consciously begin with the traditional songwriting process, in fact it is crucial.
“Contact is a musical collection of my experiences and travels from roughly the last three years, since my last album Distant Earth. I’ve covered a lot of miles again in this phase, sought out contact with fantastic, inspiring people, which made the choice of album title almost inevitable. It’s the contact, the interaction with the fans which makes my music what it is, especially when it comes to performing. It doesn’t matter whether I’m playing a club gig or a festival, it is really important for me to get close to my crowd and engage with the audience directly. It’s an exchange of emotions and energy, they feel what I feel, I feel what they feel. They are an integral element in what I do and what I have now created in album form.”
Interestingly, ‘Contact’ marks the longest period that the Trance legend has gone without the release of an album, with his previous album being released in 2011! With an insatiable hunger for innovation and the skill to dominate any crowd anywhere in the world, ATB has proved his mettle time and again as a versatile producer, and his ninth album is sure to reaffirm his status as L-E-G-E-N-D-A-R-Y!
