JustGo crunches social data to determine dance music’s most popular luminaries!

Life on social media is undeniably significant. We talk about our favourite music, our dream DJ’s and connect with millions of other fans across the world almost instantaneously, thanks to the ever evolving force that is social media. So, why not take the assistance of such a driving force to track who’s the most talked about artists in the dance music universe?

Well, London based social media startup JustGo have done just that! While becoming a unique All-In-One Social Media and Audience Management website, JustGo alongside leading piracy platform Topple Track, has extracted data from the world’s leading social media platforms, namely Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud and YouTube to determine exactly which artist has been creating the most buzz amongst the fans this past year!

According to the data collected, Hardwell confirms his status as the World #1 DJ as he leads the race, followed closely by Scotsman Calvin Harris. On their heels is Dutch sensation Nicky Romero, followed by Steve Aoki & the Belgian brother duo of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike at #4 & #5 respectively. Interestingly, Armin Van Buuren is all the way down at #18 and can be considered the single trance DJ in the Top 20. The Superstar trio of Swedish House Mafia make it to #10 despite playing their last ever show in the first quarter of the year!

Besides the Top 100 list, JustGo also revealed that music sharing platform SoundCloud has seen the highest fan growth compared to that of video sharing platform YouTube. Meanwhile, Facebook dominates a staggering 68% of the fan base as compared to the other social media platforms. The data also reveals which artist caused the most buzz on each individual platform. With Quintino having the biggest fan growth on Facebook, Dyro being dominant on Twitter, whereas Disfunktion led the numbers on YouTube.

It is of course, an empirical survey, one which measures the growth and stature of artists from selective points of view. However, one cannot overlook the impact that social media plays in overall popularity of any artist. With almost everyone on the planet connected online, the survey seems thorough and irrecusable.

JustGo has unveiled the results after a whirlwind year for the company, which raised a noteworthy $1.7m in funds and employed former Beatport co-founder & CEO Jonas Tempel as its Chairman. Speaking about all the talk surrounding rumours of certain artists buying fans/followers on different social media platforms, JustGo CEO Justin Golshir said that the field has become far more secure in the wake of public exposure.

He further explained, “Platforms have become a lot more intelligent about identifying fake fans. In the case where people are buying them we can immediately see through the data, as people can lose as many as 40k fans in one day. The reality is that on Facebook you can spend advertising money and get likes. Top DJs are not any different to corporate brands in terms of building audience online. People want to put an ad budget behind social media. They have the budget to tick both boxes – reaching new fans and advertising their product”.
