Asia’s biggest dance music property Sunburn brought its alluring Sunburn B2B concept to the city of Mumbai, for the second year in a row. On the 15th & 16th of November, Sunburn gave fans a cutting edge experience and an unforgettable musical journey. Delivering the most exciting and diverse musical action from two stages, Sunburn gave one of the most massive festival experiences to fans and dance fanatics alike with the plethora of music to choose from.
With two stages and two days of a wide array of genres to pick from, Sunburn created a seamless Festival experience as the fantastic music was complimented by a great sound & light spectacle, pyrotechnics, effective management and numerous fun filled experiences to choose from at the venue! Needless to say, the Sunburn team ensured that music took center-stage as some of the biggest artists touring this year, set the stages on fire with their electric performances!
Customary to our practice, we bring the Top Bangin Tracks over the course of the two days played by luminaries of the Dance Music Fraternity. Hit past the break to see our pick!
1. Empire Of The Sun – Alive (Zedd Remix)
When the extremely talented Zedd, decided to remix this stellar track, DJ’s across the world had to make space on their playlists to accommodate this banger! And Sunburn B2B was no different, as many DJ’s dived into this anthem midway into their power-packed sets. However, we heard it first as it was played by Delhi wonderboy Sartek! Bringing back memories of his tour to India, there was a huge uproar everytime some one dropped this track!
2. Lost Stories feat. Krishna Kaul – How You Like Me Now (Album Mix)
“How You Like Me Now” feat. Krishna Kaul is the first single from Lost Stories recent album “Music for # Generation”. It accentuates the rising Indian dance music scene, as the Indian superstar DJ duo collaborated with Anish Sood at Sunburn Mumbai and bought further mayhem as they dropped mighty mashups and anthems, however their home production is the one that gave us the widest goosebumps!
3. Orjan Nilsen – Xiing! (Original Mix)
Norwegian producer Orjan Nilsen gave his Indian fans much to scream and jump about, simply by playing in Mumbai! He was probably reiterating that fact as he carelessly dropped the crowd slayer “Xiing!” to the absolute delight of the hapless crowd, and caused more than a few to jump wildly with infectious joy! The hard bass-line had everyone pulverize the ground with their feet, and the infectious spine-catching hook made everyone sing along with it!
4. Showtek ft. We Are Loud & Sonny Wilson – Booyah (Original mix)
The Dutch brother duo Showtek have turned things up a notch this year with an array of super releases. But perhaps one that stands out as a stalwart production minutely above the rest has to be “Booyah”! Coming to Mumbai, and raising temperatures with their electrifying performance with a throbbing playlist of monster mashups and anthems, it was that Jamaican acapella and that ringing melody that was enough to get the tireless Mumbai crowd levitated in the air with arms raised and beaming faces!
5. Paul Van Dyk – Nothing But You (Super8 & Tab Remix)
Let’s face it. There are legends. And then there’s Paul Van Dyk! The German pioneer DJ and producer has contributed over two decades of countless classics to the world of electronic music! And everytime he comes to India, his energetic and enthusiastic performance makes us feel like he’s right at home! So from a devastatingly awesome playlist, if we had to pick up a gem, it would be this one! Those surreal vocals and that throbbing bassline can bring back life to any party, let alone set an already rocking festival on fire!
6. Jewelz & Scott Sparks – Flashbang (Original mix)?vs Oasis – Wonderwall?(acapella)
When Mr. Detroit himself Fedde Le Grand is standing up in front of an audience of thousands, one cannot be surprised at the creative ability of this House music legend. But as those receding basslines of “Flashbang” began to fade away into silence, we were happily surprised to hear something we didn’t quite expect! It seemed suddenly we had been transported to another stage all together as raised arms and swaying hips celebrated love and happiness as they sang along unabashed to the wonderful vocals of our favorite love song, Oasis’s “Wonderwall”!
7. Marco Carola – Bloody Cash (Original Mix)
8. Josh Wink – Higher State of Consciousness
Tech legend Josh Wink played one of the most meticulous sets at Sunburn Mumbai, as his softly curated set turned and tossed the audience carefully as it progressed. However, exiting a tribal drumline we were completely taken aback when that much awaited acid-synth pluck of “Higher State of Consciousness” became audible! That heavy acid breakbeat can still do wonders, as a majorly composed set took a turn for the dirty as breaking down to that beat became an irresistible task and caused much havoc at the venue!
9. Major Lazer feat Busy Signal & The Flexican – Watch Out For This (Bumaye) (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Tomorrowland remix)
Belgian Superstar DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are known notoriously the world over for their absolutely destructive sets! Turning the heat up at Mumbai, this funky and tribal take on Major Lazer’s “Bumaye” has always been a crowd favorite. So it was difficult to resist the temptation to shake a leg and do a little B-boying of our own to this monster of a track!
10. Tiga Vs Audion – Let’s Go Dancing (Original mix)
11. Sartek – Apocalypse (Original Mix)
Delhi wonderboy Sartek finds his way on to our list again, with the addition of his insanely powerful and demolishing Original production, Apocalypse. This electro wonder, drove the crowd absolutely insane when he dropped it right at the peak of his set. Their ecstasy was fueled even further as he handed out the Album Art t-shirts into the crowd. This particular production is very special to Sartek as it his first release on Magik Muzik, a sub-division of the very prestigious BlackHole Recordings
12. Tom Staar ft. In Atlanta – Staars (Original Mix)
British producer Tom Staar absolutely slayed the crowd with his power-packed and diverse electro and progressive set. One of absolute gems dropped was his original Staars loved by many. The simple electro-pop synth hook and catchy lyrics are reason enough to see what made the crowd cheer and hoot when it was dropped.
13. Dusty Kid – Bolero (Original Mix)
Local lads Kohra & Jitter kicked off the innovative Afterburn stage with a wonderful set of smooth and slick tech sounds. The sun shining above our heads a caressing breeze kissing our feet, we couldn’t help ourselves swaying to the mysterious sounds of Dusty Kid’s “Bolero”. The mystical sub bass and twangy synth progression was just perfect enough to get the audience really grooving and swaying. The talented duo provided a perfect start to what seems to be a promising brand for Sunburn!
