Most of us here at Bangin Beats HQ are always incorrigibly cheerful when any of our favourite producers release a production, or in this case, 2. Andrew Bayer recently released 2 absolutely smashing productions on Anjunabeats, and most of us fanboys (and a few fangirls) have been going crazy with an excitement that would probably give a 16 year old Belieber a run for her (or his; we don’t judge!) money.
Having used both on his most recent and outrageously stellar ABGT 50 set, we’ve been waiting with our mouths watering for it’s release. Though this time around, he’s gone the club-friendly way, much unlike what we’ve been used to hearing since his recent avant garde album, If It Were You, We’d Never Leave.
Perth is a beautifully composed progressive house track within which Bayer has shamelessly exploited the uber talented pianist in him. Its got a wonderful piano chord progression at the start which breaks into a powerful uplifting synth progression, backed by a driving beat. It is defined by a simplistic yet powerfully cascading melody that we just can’t get out of our heads.
Mirth Mobile is a prime example of the constantly re-assured fact that Bayer laughs at the boundaries of genre division. This one’s unlike anything Bayer has done before. It’s gritty, relentless electro house, with a grinding saw-like bassline, that is bound to send you all the way up there, during a peak time set. It’s groovy and pounding throughout, except for its euphoric-trance like breakdown, where Bayer toys around with pitch-modulated choir samples and a pulsating synth, thereby making it so much more heavenly. This is right before the second drop which comes around like an uppercut jab, to smack you right in the face and get you stomping your feet all over again.
