Gig Review: Kaskade at Pangaea, New Delhi

Ryan Raddon better known by his stage name Kaskade was here in India recently for his first ever tour in the country. Touring across three major cities – New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore; Kaskade was successful in rocking the stage for Sunburn’s Season 7 opening party at all the three venues.

Everyone in India was excited for Kaskade’s tour, as it was his first ever appearance in the country plus it marked the start of another adventurous season for Sunburn. Adding to the anticipation of the tour was his upcoming album ‘Atmosphere’ (which is lined up for release on 10th September), as the fans were getting the opportunity to enjoy some of the fresh tunes from the album during his performance. Kaskade being one of the most demanded DJs out there in the dance music industry; is also well-known for his mixing abilities apart from his heavenly productions which gives people another reason to witness him play live.

Kaskade’s India tour for Sunburn’s season opening party kicked off in New Delhi, taking place in the city’s newest swanky nightclub ‘Pangaea’ on 23rd August. Everyone in the city was pumped up for the gig, looking forward to witness America’s leading DJ spinning the decks on a hot and happening Friday night.

Recently declared as one of the highest paid DJs by Forbes, Kaskade is certainly one of the top performers out there in the world when it comes to dance music. With massive progressive house productions in his bags and recent hits like ‘Atmosphere’, Lana Del Rey’s remix of ‘Young & Beautiful’ and more, it was certain that Kaskade will bring the house down during his performance in the capital and he sure did.

With Delhi always being in mix-ups for a venue, Pangaea seems to be the next hot spot for the capital’s nightlife and Sunburn has very well teamed up with the club for its season opening party.

So, finally the time had come for Delhi to witness Kaskade for the very first time in the city. Entering with a smiling face and completely shaved up, Kaskade seemed to be more than ready for the night as he entered the DJ booth of Pangaea. The Delhi crowd excited as ever, started cheering out loud for the man they’ve been waiting for. With everyone glaring towards the elevated DJ booth where Kaskade stood tall. The completely packed club kept roaring as Kaskade kicked off his set with his lovable track ‘Atmosphere’ which is his first production that features vocals by himself. The energetic crowd of Delhi started to sing-a-long and groove as Kaskade kept playing some beautiful progressive house tunes. Dancing to one hit tune after another, the crowd knew that they are up to witness a classy set from Kaskade.

The club witnessed a full attendance for the night. Kaskade was dropping some amazing tunes and mashups right from the start of his set. The night got more intense as soon as he played Zedd’s remix of Empire of The Sun – ‘Alive’. The whole crowd was singing along and the atmosphere of the club became more powerful & energetic. Then it was time for a vocal mix of Kaskade’s single ‘Eyes’, beautifully transcending into his latest hit remix of Lana Del Rey’s – ‘Young & Beautiful’. That moment when he dropped this remix was the highlight of the night. Then he played another one of his mashup – ‘Fire In Your New Shoes’ vs Alesso’s ‘Clash’.  This is what is best about Kaskade, he includes some of the unexpected mashups and remixes in his set; giving fans a unique musical experience.

The night went on as he dropped a few new IDs from his upcoming album along with his lovable releases such as ‘Room For Happiness’ and ‘Lesson In Love’. Kaskade is definitely one of the best in the game when it comes to handling party-goers. He didn’t let the crowd settle down at all and threw Mysto & Pizzi’s Remix of Daft Punk – ‘Get Lucky’ next. The track got the attention of the entire club and the already excited fans turned more energetic and danced with full intensity.

Continuing with the insanity, Kaskade dropped another of his vocal mashup ‘Turn It Down vs Animals’ and the hard hitting drop of Animals left the crowd in complete madness. Further in his set he included tracks like ‘Angel on My Shoulder’, Bingo Players -’Out Of My Mind’ and Thomas Gold – ‘Miao’. Lastly, as the crowd didn’t expect Kaskade had to bring an end to his magical set. Close to the finish of his set, Kaskade dropped his ever loving hit along side Deadmau5 – ‘I Remember’, which is one of his best productions till date.

Delhi will definitely remember Kaskade for delivering such a wonderful night. Full credit goes to the Sunburn team and to the club Pangaea for putting together an amazing show. Finally, as Kaskade tweeted about the night ‘It was short, but nice’; We do hope he comes back to India soon!
