Kaskade expands his musical palette beyond his house roots on Atmosphere, his new album which is set to be released this Tuesday (10th September) is now available to stream! Hit past the break to listen to the complete album…
The hauntingly beautiful “No One Knows Who We Are” features classical elements, and “LAX to JFK” opens with dramatic, Inception-esque strings. Kaskade also sings as lead vocalist for the first time on “Atmosphere.”
“It’s not necessarily about being a singer – it’s more about just catching the idea of the song,” Kaskade told Rolling Stone last June. “I’m not gonna go on American Idol or anything like that. But for me, the time was right, and it was the right song for me to sing.”
In addition to his own vocals, Kaskade gets help from a strong supporting cast of singers, including frequent collaborator Haley, whose mellifluous voice flows over the minimalist “Floating.”
“I kept it really close to home, worked with a lot of friends, people that I admire,” Kaskade said, “not so much people with huge status. I wasn’t really going for that.”
There are also surefire club hits, from the pulsing beat in “Last Chance” to the frantic synths and high-speed drum hits exploding out of the 4/4 groove in “Feeling the Night.”
