Starting out in the mid-2000’s, Australian sisters Mim and Liv Nervo made a name for themselves by writing chartbusters for artists like Ke$ha and Kylie Minogue, remixing superstars like Katy Perry and Thirty Seconds to Mars, and joining forces with David Guetta to co-write his Grammy-winning “When Love Takes Over”. They quickly built upon that experience by releasing music under their own name, alongside some of the biggest producers today including Afrojack, Steve Aoki and Nicky Romero, while tearing through arenas across the world on the Britney Spears/Nicki Minaj Femme Fatale tour.

Now, one of the most sought after acts in dance music, NERVO, can be found balancing their rigorous worldwide touring schedule while working on their debut album that soaks deadly-catchy melody into the loud, dirty beats that set apart their brand of progressive and electro-house.

We had the pleasure of interviewing the talented DJ/Producer sister duo at the recently concluded Tomorrowland festival this year. Hit past the break to know what the Aussie sister duo had to tell us about their transition from pop to dance music, their love for India and their upcoming tour, & more at Tomorrowland 2013!

TBB: We’re here at Tomorrowland 2013, with none other than the incredibly talented, Nervo! First of all, how are you?

Nervo: Very well, Thank you!

TBB: Especially you (Liv) after the fall? How’s your injury?

Nervo (Liv): I am actually good considering my injury, quite happy at the moment.

TBB: We’re glad to hear that. Talking a bit about the past, you started off as writers didn’t you?

Nervo (Mim): Yes, we started writing music about 10 years ago, then moved on to producing about 4-5 years ago and eventually, started releasing music under our own name about 3 years ago.

TBB: And it has been no looking back ever since! It all started off with pop music, we believe?

Nervo: Yeah it was definitely pop music because, we both play the piano and guitar. We were never really programmers to begin with so our music initially was focused towards more organic sounds derived from conventional instruments. At the time, we were writing pop music but clubbing every weekend, so our tastes naturally moved towards the electronic side of the spectrum and around that time we started to learn how to program.

TBB: What compelled you to make the transition from pop to dance music?

Nervo: It was purely natural, to gain control of our work. At the time we would often go into studios, recording and writing and then having to leave that work in the studio. Most of the times we weren’t happy about the sound’s that were coming back to us from the studio. So we just decided to start learning how to program at the time. We just had a really great year three years ago, when David Guetta won the grammy for “When Love Takes Over” we wrote that. ‘When Love Takes Over” along with Ke$ha blowing up in America really catapulted us and changed our lives.

TBB: Seems it’s been quite a wild journey thus far?

Nervo: It surely has been a wonderful journey and now we are going to be coming to India for the first time! We’re super excited about that, it’s been on our list for a long time and we just can’t wait to get there.

TBB: Do you know much about the culture and any expectations for your upcoming India tour?

Nervo: Actually, we’ve been living in London for the past 9 years and have so many Indian friends there, Even our very first landlord in London was Indian and was super nice and friendly. They even invited us a lot for dinner. We also love Indian food and are definitely looking forward to eating a lot of it. So, as far as expectations go we are looking forward to lot’s of good food and lots of crazy people [laughs].

TBB: Speaking of the tour, we hear you’re coming for Sunburn festival? Have you heard anything about the festival?

Nervo: Yes, we’ve heard so much about it. Our good friend, Afrojack played there last year. We’re extremely excited that we get to play it and we can’t wait!

TBB: Talking about your records, “Like Home” springs to our mind as a track that was widely successful in India, could you tell us something about that track in particular?

Nervo: “Like home” is really an emotional track for us. We were in Utrecht in Holland performing at a music festival with Nicky Romero and we’d been meaning to work together in the studio for a while. So, we decided to take a couple of days off after the festival and work together, We spent two days in the studio and the first song that came out was “Like Home”. We are just really flattered that the track is connecting with people.

TBB: It certainly is! Talking about the future, any upcoming records or collaborations you have been working on?

Nervo: We have a lot of records and a few collaborations coming out in the near future. We are also working on our album right now, hopefully the album is going to be completed by the end of the year, which means we will be releasing some singles before the end of the year and dropping the whole album early next year.

TBB: Coming to our last few questions, as we’re ‘The Bangin Beats’, here’s our standard favourite. Tell us your top 3 #bangin tracks?

Nervo: Well, “Like Home” definitely, then there’s “Slow Down” by Showtek and our upcoming collaboration with Ivan Gough featuring Beverly Knight called, “Not Taking This No More”.

TBB: We’re definitely going to be looking out for that. To round things up, any message to your fans in India?

Nervo: <strong>
