Finally it’s here! Arguably one of the most controversial tracks of this year “Wake Me Up” had it’s official video premiered today.

In the video, Avicii sticks to the theme of his track by incorporating solid country elements in it. It essentially follows a journey of a young country girl as she transitions from her hometown into a big city to find herself. Upon arrival, she immediately runs into fellow soul searchers who whisk her away to an electronic music festival. It is here that we see scenes of laughter and tears of joy being shared by the girl and her friends.  Finally, they have found a place where they feel accepted.

The music festival in the video has shots taken from Avicii’s set when he premiered his album at UMF this year. Tim has also made sure that his recent endorsements are clearly visible with brands like Ralph Lauren and Xperia making their presence felt.

Personally, I believe that the video is a fitting commentary on Avicii’s distinguishing musical style that was unanimously ill received by the masses.

As time went by, “Wake Me Up” ended up becoming the number one track on the UK charts in less than forty-five minutes!

Some may hate him for all his commercial success but at the same time you can’t deny but accept the fact that “Wake Me Up” is a clear example of how bridging together two genres of music can also do wonders. I feel that this has been Tim’s biggest achievement aside from the obvious success that “Levels” had brought him.

The track also throws up an interesting debate of how many dance music lovers are sometimes very quick in not accepting a new style of sound from their favorite artists.

To sum things up – EDM is the ultimate winner!  It openly embraces all genres of music regardless of how they come across.

“Wake Me Up” will be part of Avicii’s upcoming album #TRUTH that will be coming out later this year.
