There seem to be a lot of teeny boppers in the electronic music scene lately. But the upside of it is that sometimes out of the millions of sad little adolescents there are a distinct few that leave a mark. Take Martin Garrix for instance. All of 17 years of age and my! oh my can he play music!. The Dutch house young star this week became the youngest artist to top the Beatport charts on his own. This is comparable to his contemporary and also good friend Julian Jordan who did the same with his track Kangaroo at 16.
His latest single “Animals,” released June 17 on Spinnin’ Records, hit the number one spot on Friday, adding a personal first chart-topper to his burgeoning discography. Charging through with one track after another like ‘Torrent’ with Sidney Samson and also another one with Julian Jordan this boy wonder seems hell bent on bringing a revolution on the dance floor.
