Powerhouse producer, Zedd has been hard at work with the eccentric pop-star Lady Gaga, producing her upcoming album titled “ARTPOP”. The young dance music prodigy was quoted to be saying that he’s quite excited about the duo’s work: “…I think the stuff we’ve made is pretty fucking cool”.
The two artists met in London in 2011 on the recommendation of Interscope big shot Jimmy Iovine. After sending Gaga a demo track, the popstar became adamant that Zedd be the one to produce her next album. After touring with Lady Gaga, Zedd grew to admire her free spirit as an artist, saying ”It’s amazing, because she does not have to please anyone, and she is who she is… Her first idea of how we should approach the music was just to be completely open – nothing is too crazy. Whatever is dope is dope. We do whatever we want, and we don’t have to make a song that’s 3 minutes and 30 seconds just to fit the radio”.
It has been reported that the two have finished about five or six tracks for the album, which despite Zedd‘s influence, isn’t necessarily destined to be a work of dance music, “We didn’t try to make an EDM album – but, at the same time, we didn’t try not to make an EDM album”. From Gaga‘s past work on Born This Way, we can possibly expect the new album to be somewhat dancey, but then again we could also be pitched a gargantuan curveball.
Even if you aren’t a fan of Lady Gaga, ARTPOP is sure to prove to be an interesting record. With an emphasis on making the music they want, these two talented artists have a chance to set a unique precedent for crossover producers and artists alike.
Stay tuned for further details as they arise!
