Erick Morillo has lately been in the news for the wrong reasons. After failing to turn up to perform at a Long Island gig and recently being escorted with the help of security and staff from the Massachusetts Ocean Club for being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. This isn’t the first time the legendary creator of the club hit I Like To Move It has been involved with scandals of this nature.
Five songs into his set, it appeared Erick Morillo wasn’t seeming fully functional and he was escorted off mid-set, whilst a loop was played on repeat. Morillo has cancelled all his shows through to the end of June and has announced a break from DJing for a while.
Morillo released a statement which said :
“There comes a time when the body just can’t keep up with the hectic schedule and sleepless nights. Having pushed my body to the limits for many years, the time has come to take a break and refocus my attention on my health and well-being. I plan on returning stronger then ever to my passion of playing music and seeing you dancing on my dance floor. Until then, I like to thank all my fans for your enduring love and support! Hope to see you soon.”
We can only hope Erick Morillo comes back bigger and better. Here’s wishing him a speedy recovery from all of us. Do check out one of Morillo’s hits below:
