Now when I think of Iceland I think of Penguins, but then I would be geographically wrong. Period. Penguins don’t exist in the Iceland but killer music definitely does.
I was introduced to this band Sigur Rós by a dear friend who didn’t quite enjoy EDM. I eventually grew very fond of the band and when now my respect for them has grown after hearing the track Sæglópur (Paolo Mojo Remix) released in May 2013. The track mixed by Paolo Mojo is poised on the edge of post rock tunes and new age trance. There is a befuddled feeling that grips you when the track begins and continues to hold you with an iron trap till the very end. But that’s the beauty of the song, it does it so unassumingly, so carelessly that you wonder if it wonder if it has a mind of its own.
Sigur Rós is a classic Icelandic ambient rock band who has been around since decades. They have an ever expanding discography which includes Von (1997), Ágætis byrjun (1999) the latest of their venture being Kveikur (2013). And Paulo Mojo what do we say about him? His adjectives will go on for pages. A man of masterful compositions and charismatic personality he is definitely the king of underground dance music. Mojo definitely has his own ‘mojo’ to every piece of music he brings to the scene and it is so distinct and stark that you can’t help but fall in love with it.
