Sony Music, a global music giant, releases Nikhil Chinapa‘s debut compilation for Defected Records called Defected in the House India 2013. The album showcases his love for house music in all its forms. Every track in the compilation is both accessible and irresistibly danceable. As a whole, the mix is a celebration of the music that has kept Nikhil at the forefront of the Indian dance music scene for more than 10 years.
MTV mascot, DJ, VJ, promoter, festival director, radio host, dance music fanatic: Nikhil Chinapa is all of these things and more; but underneath all the various avatars he’s worn in his career, Nikhil is one thing: a believer. A believer that nothing brings people together like dance music.
“In this first compilation of mine, I’ve chosen to share house music that I love listening to and is both timeless and contemporary. I’ve also tried to create a snapshot of what I hope dance music (or at least a part of it) will sound like in the coming year – deep and soulful, while also being quirky and fun. This is music that moves me emotionally, triggers happy memories and makes me want to dance, smile and believe. I hope it does the same to you”, says Nikhil Chinapa.
Nikhil is well known in India as an ambassador for electronic beats and club culture. What many of his fans don’t know, however, is that Nikhil is constantly pushing India as a future dance music capital to some of the world’s most celebrated artists.
Whether he’s behind the decks, on the microphone, or organizing the show behind the scenes, Nikhil is a firm believer that nothing brings people together like house music. This compilation is another tangible reminder of his passion.
The compilation has already made its way to #1 on the dance music charts in India and additionally has made it to the Top 10 albums on iTunes India. Definitely another milestone achievement in a career that has seen Nikhil wear almost every hat in the dance music industry.
We take this opportunity to congratulate Nikhil for adding another feather to his already packed hat and wish him the best for all of his future endeavours.
