Trance’s proverbial Godfather, Armin Van Buuren, never seems to be out of our spotlight. This time, he’s out with the preview of the second single from his artist album, Intense. The single in question, is a very aptly titled, “Who’s Afraid of 138?!” based on one Trance music’s latest ideologies.
The phrase, “Who’s afraid of 138?!” originated when during one of the legendary live shows of the A State of Trance 550 tour, Armin van Buuren came up with a new statement: ‘Who’s afraid of 138?!’. Referring to the booming bass of the harder, faster and most certainly louder type of tunes in the trance genre, it became a slogan and motto for everyone into that sound.
And this production is the perfect embodiment of what that slogan stands for. It was first previewed at A State Of Trance 600‘s stop at Den Bosch, Netherlands. Armin treated his fellow countrymen to this beautiful tune. Very sharp in contrast to his first single, This Is What It Feels Like. This euphoric trance production showcases the very ingenuity and brilliance that Armin Van Buuren has always been known for. The track is characterised by the hard trance pulse beats intertwined with a chimed melody and chopped up vocal samples, before breaking to a euphoric string riff. In the words of Armin, himself, this is his attempt at ‘bringing back euphoric to where it belongs.‘
