“Telemiscommunications” originated from deadmau5 instrumental version called “Community Nap” which was produced by mau5 in 2010. Then after 2 years, Imogen Heap and deadmau5 teamed up. Imogen received a few samples from deadmau5; out of which she was fascinated with “Community Nap” and turned it into an electronica masterpiece by adding some melancholic vocals to it.

It’s a very different production from the mau5, not the usual chord progressions and kick-snare kinds. Dropping the tempo dramatically, the tune features Imogen Heap’s signature lyrics over deadmau5 and Imogen’s delicate melancholic instrumentation. It’s the closing track on his latest album, >album title goes here<, and tells the tale of a disconnected one-sided mobile phone conversation with a lover. The perfect 21st century technological love song. The new single package of ‘Telemiscommunications’ with mixes from Crookers, Kölsch, John Roman and Copy Paste Soul, is available today on iTunes. They all bring in the dance elements to the track making it suitable for clubs. Remixes by Kolsch and Crookers seemed to be quite interesting, listen them below!

After receiving a great response from the fans about the track, both of them decided to run a competition to search for budding animators to create the official video for “Telemiscommunications”. 20 individuals were selected to work in their own style and medium within each part of the animation process and were given certain segments of the narrative to create as they see fit. Many of us have been in situations where we’re trying to speak to someone in a spot where, say, your connection keeps dropping, but have you ever sat to think how crazy your side of the conversation would sound to someone who could only hear you? The video narrates this story with the track fitting perfectly to it. Earlier today, Deadmau5 & Imogen Heap were live broadcasting and chatting about the collaboration, video etc. before the official clip went live. So, watch the official video right below!
