Above and Beyond – Black Room Boy (Club Edit)
Above and Beyond. Three words synonymous with Trance music since its inception, almost.
For those of you who still don’t know who they are, (if you’re absolutely totally completely new to edm, like literally 3 seconds old) they’re a trance producing trio from the United Kingdom. Comprising of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki, these guys have been big since 2000.
Coming to their next single, recently released on their own label Anjunabeats, it’s the club mix to the seventh – and final – single to be taken from the UK-based trio’s acclaimed “Group Therapy” album. “Black Room Boy.”
With the trio’s very own Tony McGuinness giving it his haunting vocals, the song is about an introvertive, insular person who acts out his frustrations on the virtual world of the internet. Which more or less is a reflection of today’s youth.
Arguably one of the most anticipated tracks of 2013, It’s got elements similar to Eric Prydz remix of Personal Jesus (read:bassline). Very heavy and hard hitting, its perfect for a club feel. It builds up off minimal sounds before progressing to very beat heavy drop.
Normally very unlike Above and Beyond’s usual sound, but still very, very dancy.
The Club mix is out now on Ultra Records, and you can check it out on beatport, here.
