White Fox India in association with WMS is bringing down the legend of dance music – Laidback Luke to one of the finest clubs of New Delhi – LAP tonight (22nd Feb). Be prepared to experience a night of your life and follow this post to know more about him and his songs before you go out there to rave!
There’s something about growing up in The Netherlands, or it’s probably the water they drink, or the food they eat that brings with it the recurring wave of quality Dutch artists and their music. Time and again there’s a solid Dutch domination in the dynamic arena of electronic music. Artists come and fade out but there are some that stay on the top of their game owing to their vibe, skill and ingenuity. Laidback Luke is on such top man and refuses to slow down when it come to the craft of making music.
For those who’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, Laidback Luke is the stage name of Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen. Born in Manila, Philippines, and raised in Holland, Laidback Luke has become a sort of reference point for quality performances. A high level of energy, stunning live sets and an amiable disposition makes him such a master.
Before choosing to stun stadium sized crowds across the globe, Laidback Luke was a graffiti artist. It is probably the reason behind his “hyper-drive-house-step & ghetto-jack-trance-bass” sound. He has played alongside the biggest names in the scene (him being one himself!) such as David Guetta, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Example and a host of others and played throughout Europe and North America as well as shows in Japan and Ibiza. His Super You&Me events sell out wherever it goes and it’s no wonder that he keeps being ranked in the Top echelons of the (in)famous and by-all-means-wanted TOP 100 DJ lists.
His two studio albums Psyched Up (1998) and Electronic Satisfaction (2002) as well as Windmill Skill (2003), a mix album, have been appreciated commercially as well as otherwise. 2003 saw his remix of the Daft Punk song “Crescendolls” for Daft Club. Luke has also released his own mix album, titled Ibiza Closing Party, as a free covermount CD in the October 2008 issue of Mixmag. July 2011 brought about his new album titled Cream Ibiza Super You & Me.
His latest productions and collaborations featured artists such as Wynter Gordon, Martin Solveig, Chuckie, Example, Norman Doray and Arno Cost. Never shying away from the crazy, Laidback Luke injected some freshness with “Speak Up” that knocked everyone down with its amazing build up and some lovely melody. Following that came “1234”, another tune that pretty much destroyed the sane minds of crowds all over the world.
Some bad ass releases of the house virtuoso over time:

Laidback Luke vs. Example – Natural Disaster
Laidback Luke, Arno Cost & Norman Doray – Trilogy
Laidback Luke & Sander Van Doorn – Who’s Wearing The Cap
