Sunburn Special – ‘Top Essentials’

The 6th edition of Asia’s biggest dance music festival kicks off on the beaches of Candolim,Goa on 27th,28th and 29th December.
Our essential list will make sure you have the Sunburn spirit kickin’ till the very end!
1. Hydrate
It may be December but the Sun in Goa never dims. The solution is simple… water. Drink it. Drink it often and drink lots of it. At Sunburn, Bars and exclusive bars for ladies will be available, so squeeze that extra lime in that soda and drink up.
2. Meeting points.
You came with 15 of your mates and an hour later you’re wandering around wondering where the f…..estival they are! Don’t rely on the mobile phone network either. Pick one meeting point and stick to it. Sunburn has made ‘meeting points’ which will be mentioned in the map. And if you are in need of wifi, Sunburn always provides Google plus wifi zones at the venue. Information centres will also be provided at the venue for any enquiry.
3. Safety
First aid/medical facilities will be provided at Sunburn, however, the organizers do not take any responsibility for any problems arising. There are places at the venue (also mentioned on the map) where first aid will be facilitated. But sometimes, for small problems that can be solved with a simple band-aid, save yourself the trouble and carry one. Secondly, carry a Hand sanitizer (port-a-potties can be nasty!!).
4. Sunscreen yo ‘self
We’re all looking forward to that beautiful sun kissed tan on the goan beaches, but we all know the dangers of UV rays. You don’t want a sunburn at Sunburn festival now, and you certainly don’t want skin issues, so lather up.
5. Appropriate Bag
Ladies, ditch the handbag. For security of all personal stuff a waist-belt fitting bag is ideal for keeping cash, train tickets, phone etc. Also, bags are checked every-time you switch grounds, so carry less to avoid wasting too much time in security checking.
6. Moolah
Do not depend on an ATM . It’s a long way to the ATM and you don’t want to risk missing your favourite DJs. Also, get loose change ready before you arrive, as queues for cash machines are exceedingly long at Sunburn. There are also Sunburn shops located at the vicinity, so you might just want to carry some extra cash on you just incase you fall in love with those new Sunburn T-shirts.
7. What else?
The festival comes loaded with a plethora of events. Other than the numerous stalls serving lip smacking delectable food, the activities like fire juggling, Rock climbing, riding a mechanical bull, playing slippery football, engaging in relieving spa treatments and massages are some of the primary interests of the visitors. Makeover lounges and digital photo zones are quite a rage among the female admirers of the event.
8. Chappals
Ladies, as much as we all love our daring stilettos, try to wear heels that are not too high. The best size shoes are medium height. Wear some thin socks underneath. This will help prevent your feet from rubbing against the leather or on the material of the shoes. However, we do HIGHLY recommend that you wear feet friendly sneakers.Sturdy Boots or shoes fit for walking- Walking Boots are ideal. Sandals are also good for hot weather and dry conditions.
9. Whats ‘Yo’ style
Usually at Sunburn – anything goes! Unless it’s guaranteed not to rain, avoid wearing jeans as they just get clogged with mud and are miserable to be wearing if you’re soaked through. Instead, wear shorts or short skirts and leggings/tights because you may like to take a stroll on the beach .We’re not condoning tracky bottoms and an anorak, but we are suggesting keeping savvy with the clothes (this year it’s all about the Barbour) and funky with the accessories, augmented by sturdy footwear (try Hunter wellies).
10. Sunnies
Keep your eyes happy. Outdoor stages can often be in front of the sun, leaving you blinded as you try to watch, plus an add on accessory to your style.
11. Digital Juice’e
You don’t want to run out of digital juice.Camera/mobile/Video cameras. Make sure you’ve got a case and strap for it, as they’re easy to drop and lose in crowded environments. You also might want to check that you’ve got plenty of storage on it before leaving and take an extra memory stick or film if necessary. If your phone has a camera, just use that and save some space.
12.Cop alert
Smoking isn’t allowed except smoking areas or else you could be fined on the spot, so keep your eyes out for the sign.
13. Getting there.
Goa is a tiny place. New years is in a few days. There will be undoubtedly a lot of Traffic. To make your experience a pleasant one, we suggest making your way to the venue before 3pm.
14. Coupons
We’ve all personally experienced this. Standing in a long line, in the sun, waiting for some drink/food coupons. That is why Buy your drink coupons for the day/3days in advance . And if you see the counter is empty just get a handful of say, Rs 1000, because you don’t want to keep going back again & again upto an hour for a soda coupon.
15. too bindaaz brah?
Don’t get too carried away. Sunburn is a three-day holiday to kick back and chill out, but don’t let the hippie vibes and too much sun – or rain – go to your head. Finally plucking up the courage to go bungee jumping or listening to Babyshambles is one thing, but getting arrested for being drunk and disorderly or contracting impetigo from a dodgy henna tattoo is quite another – you won’t want to tell the grandchildren that one.
16. Know your artist.
Do your research on your favourite artists, this will give you an in-depth understanding of where their coming from and adds more to your music experience. Decide the ones you ‘you must’ watch and the ones you ‘may’ . This becomes confusing especially when you reach the venue and your favourite artists are playing at the same time.
17.
Do chill out. Go on…embrace the Sunburn spirit. The world won’t end if you can’t maintain your five-a-day healthy eating regime or you’ve forgotten to pack your Chanel moisturiser. Wear your grass stains with pride, forget where you’ve pitched your tent, buy a drink for a complete stranger and be serious about having fun. It’s what Sunburn is all about.
18.Contraception
Because you never know. Er..
