chet faker aww

2014 saw the rise of chilled, liquid house music, with lesser-known underground artists, having peculiar names dominating our playlist and getting us hooked on to their music like a drug. Chet Faker, is the best example of such an artist and that’s one of the reasons he reigned Triple J’s Hottest 100 list.

The ‘Triple J’s Hottest 100’ features ace quality music that sets itself apart from the mainstream, yet is compatible to the taste of a ‘commoner’ as much as that of a ‘hipster’. Nicholas Murphy, who goes by his stage name ‘Chet Faker’ (taking inspiration from the famous musician, Chet Faker) has outdone himself with each piece of music that he has ever come out with. Whether it’s creating eclectic electronic hot numbers with Flume or down tempo, delicately infused with instrumental singles that melt your heart, each track possesses a delightful soul of it’s own. With skills like those, it was about time Faker gained the acknowledgement he deserved. His track ‘Talk Is Cheap’ from his debut album ‘Built On Glass’ succeeded in finding its way on the top of Australian charts and now #1 on ‘Triple J’s Hottest 100’ list.

2014 was the year of Faker. Hopefully, 2015 will see the prodigy whip out some more of his beautiful masterworks and give us another year full of music that leaves our hearts in a mush. Until then, go on a feels trip yet again with this video of ‘Talk Is Cheap’ below. Also, find if your favourite artist made the list by viewing them all here!
