If you were ever to strike up a conversation with any self respecting electronic music enthusiast, one of the things that’s bound to pop up is without a doubt, Deadmau5. The iconic dance music producer and self-proclaimed geek, is one of dance music’s most passionate, real and eccentric (barring on weird sometimes) entities. He’s captured the imagination of many and has sent waves throughout the dance music community ever since he decided to don the infamous helmet for the very first time.
Since then, there’s been no looking back for the tattoo covered, nyan-cat fanboy. He’s undoubtedly one of dance music’s most favourite poster boys. And for most of us, our journey into electronica definitely had traces of the Mau5 touch to help us on our way. Most of us love him for his “no nonsense tolerating” persona, his sense of humour and obviously his colossal ingenuity when it comes to music production.
Why Joel Zimmerman is what he is? well, most of us know that already, and for those who don’t (probably cause you’ve been living on one of Saturn’s dark, lonely moons) that would take eons to compile and would probably result in a very long write-up that you’d probably not bother reading.
What we will do, however, is try our best to tell you, why exactly his upcoming tour of India, ranks among the very, very few things you do NOT want to make the uneducated decision of missing. It probably ranks on par with why you shouldn’t miss an opportunity to watch the Northern Lights.
7. Production and Stage set up.
We all know that part of what defines any good gig lies in the visualisations and production. The sad part here is, we don’t get to see Deadmau5’s infamous cube. However, a little birdy told us that he’d be getting his crew with him to aid in the production design and stage set up. Apart from that, the guys at Sunburn are definitely almost on par with international festivals, especially considering the Colossal Dance Temple stage at Goa last year, which had bragging rights of being one of the biggest stages in Asia. Personally, judging by the Mau5’s past shows, coupled with Sunburn’s past shows, by inference alone, I’d know for sure they’re gonna hit the ball out of the park with this stage set up, and that alone is reason enough. But hey, that’s just my opinion.
6. R3hab
In all the hooplah surrounding Deadmau5 tour, we’re all forgetting another pretty big deal. R3hab’s going to be opening. R3hab’s pretty much an established enough DJ to hold his own international tour. The fact that we’re getting to see the both of them together is pretty effin’ huge. For those that don’t know about how big R3hab actually is, just head on over to his soundcloud page. Apart from that, he’s worked with Hardwell, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Nervo, just to name a few. All this apart from his slew of well respected remixes. One ticket, 2 great acts. Is there anything more we could ask for?
5. An India tour is quite a big deal.
Let’s face it. We know that India’s grown a lot in the dance music sphere. We’ve slowly gained our spot on the International Dance Music map, with the gradual increase of the variety and amount of artists that are including India in their world tours. We weren’t where we are even 2 years back. We’ve definitely come a long, long way. So much so, that the Mau5 has expressed his interest in visiting the country. Now to fans of the mau5, we know how picky and pricey he is about the places he visits. This time, he actually wants to get here. Apart from all this, to be brutally honest, 2 years back none of us could even dream of seeing Deadmau5 hit us with his signature sound on home ground. Now thanks to the good people at Sunburn, that’s all possible. Let’s all give him a reason to make this a recurring thing, shall we?
4. You can get to flaunt your very own Mau5head
One of the things that never fails to capture our attention is the Mau5head, and it’s varied versions. The fact that the guy DJ’s behind under a huge mouse helmet, is pretty darn cool. Add that to the various versions he’s come up with. A personal favourite being the LED one that changed itself along with the music. That helmet was downright, jaw-dropping cool. Now we all wanted to dress like the mau5, but we never had a good enough reason to. Well, we’ve just got one. The interwebs are already in a tizzy with the amount of crazed fans already ready with their own mau5heads. You think you can come up with a one that beats them all? You’ve got a reason to flaunt it!

3. #DalerMau5
It all started with his interview with us, followed by a bunch of tweets that has sparked the possibility of one of the collaborations of the century. International superstar DJ with International Superstar Bhangra singer. Deadmau5 and Daler Mehndi, or as the latest hashtag goes, DalerMau5. We’re all hoping we do get to see the two epic personalities share the same stage, cause that’s definitely something you’d want to tell your grand-kids about. But hoping seems to be the key word here. Will they actually perform together? Guess the only way of finding out is actually going for the gig.
2. It’s one of the best excuses to make memories of an epic night with your closest friends.
You’ve got the music down, you’ve got the experience down, and you already know why the India tour is such a huge deal. This coupled with a stellar venue, flowing alcohol (we all know that’s a plus) and your closest friends, have just the right makings for it to be one unforgettable evening. Years from now, when you look back at your life, would you rather have a memory of the first time you saw deadmau5 perform live at your city with your closest friends? or a memory of how you’ve spent just another Friday, Saturday or Sunday night at your local bar/pub/aunty’s house?

Apart from all the pomp and show that is Deadmau5, he never forgets the real reason why he’s so loved the world over. His music. He is, beyond a doubt, one of the most prolific, genius and versatile producers out there and his discography is nothing but testament to that fact. We’ve fallen in love with hits like FML, Strobe, Raise Your Weapon, Sofi Needs A Ladder, Auguru,Cyclic Redundancy, I Remember and Hi Friend! to name a few. Plus with his fluctuating soundcloud page, and his newest Testpilot alias, we’re going to be made privy to 2 whole hours of unadulterated Deadmau5. We’d get to hear stuff off his new album, some of the classics and so much more of pure Deadmau5 music. If you’re a dance music enthusiast, or someone that’s just starting out with the genre, this is something you can not, repeat, CAN NOT afford to miss.
