Hideo Kojima Reveals Debut Poster for PlayStation Exclusive Physint, First Cast Announcement

During a special event celebrating the 10th anniversary of Kojima Productions in Japan, Hideo Kojima shared insights into his new project for PlayStation, titled Physint.

While presenting on stage, Kojima revealed that the development phase for Physint is in its initial stages. Currently, he is personally crafting the game’s concepts, which includes designing characters and contemplating potential cast members. “It is just the start,” he commented.

Following a supportive video message from Herman Hulst, CEO of Studio Business Group at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Kojima characterized Physint as an advanced tactical espionage action game. This genre is familiar territory for Kojima, who gained fame with his Metal Gear series during his tenure at Konami.

Kojima noted that the technology behind Physint is even more sophisticated than that used in his previous game, Death Stranding, and the forthcoming Xbox Game Studios exclusive, OD, which was also highlighted at the event. Although no specific release timeline for Physint was disclosed, Kojima indicated that the focus will first be on OD, followed by Physint, suggesting a longer wait before any significant updates on Physint are available.

Kojima also introduced the main character of Physint through the game’s initial poster, although details were scarce as the character’s face was barely visible. Casting for the main character remains unannounced, though Kojima hinted at future revelations. The game’s enigmatic tagline, “here comes the feeling,” was also shared, adding to the intrigue.

Three actors confirmed to feature in Physint are Charlee Fraser, known for her role as Mary Jabassa in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga; Don Lee, who portrayed Gilgamesh in the Marvel film Eternals; and Japanese actress Minami Hamabe, famous for her role as Noriko ÅŒishi in Godzilla Minus One. Each actor expressed their enthusiasm for the project through video messages.

The presentation concluded with a CG image of Minami Hamabe, showcasing the realistic graphics expected in Physint. However, the specific game engine being used for Physint remains undisclosed.

In a May interview, Kojima mentioned that Physint’s release could be as far off as 2030, possibly aligning with the PlayStation 6 era. He expressed in Le Film Francais that any plans to direct a film are postponed until after the completion of his first action espionage game post-Konami. Physint was first announced by Hulst in January 2024, but updates have been minimal since then.

That concludes the latest details on Physint. For more updates, keep an eye on the announcements from the Kojima Productions livestream.
