Jamie Lee Curtis Speaks Out on Film Critiques
Jamie Lee Curtis has never shied away from expressing her opinions about film reviews. Recently, she took on a familiar role in the new movie “Freakier Friday,” a follow-up to the beloved 2003 hit “Freaky Friday.” In this latest installment, she returns as Tess Coleman and reunites with Lindsay Lohan, who plays her daughter.
The film was recently reviewed in a post by Time, which included critic Stephanie Zacharek’s thoughts on the sequel. Zacharek pointed out that there wasn’t a notable demand for a continuation of the 2003 film, which combined humor and heartfelt moments without being overly sentimental.

Responding to the critique on Instagram, Curtis commented, “SEEMS a TAD HARSH. SOME people LOVE it. Me being one.” It appears that Zacharek’s critical take is not widely shared, as “Freakier Friday” has received fairly positive feedback from other sources. The movie currently holds a 73% critic score and a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, it has made a significant impact at the box office, pulling in $12.7 million on its opening day, with projections estimating a total of $27 to $30 million for the opening weekend.
The plot of “Freakier Friday” unfolds several decades after the events of the original film. This time, Anna, portrayed by Lohan, is a mother herself, with a daughter played by Julia Butters and a soon-to-be stepdaughter played by Sophia Hammons. The story explores the dynamics of blending families as Anna, her mother Tess, and the two young girls find themselves caught up in a complex four-way body swap.
The cast is rounded out with performances by Manny Jacinto, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. Nisha Ganatra directed the film, which was written by Jordan Weiss, Elyse Hollander, and Mary Rodgers.
Reviewing for The Bangin Beats, critic Owen Gleiberman appreciated the sequel, noting that it successfully captures the comedic and psychological essence of the body-swap genre with confident and humorous execution.
