Fabric London Is Shutting Down Permanently After License Gets Revoked!

UPDATE: Fabric have now put out an official statement which says:

“fabric is extremely disappointed with Islington Council’s decision to revoke our license. This is an especially sad day for those who have supported us, particularly the 250 staff who will now lose their jobs. Closing fabric is not the answer to the drug-related problems. Clubs like ours are working to prevent, and sets a troubling precedent for the future of London’s night time economy.”

This day will always be counted as one of the darkest days in the history of dance music culture. Legendary London-based club Fabric has been forced to shut down its doors after a lengthy debate which was carried out at the Islington Town Hall last night.

After over six hours of lengthy discussion, Flora Williamson, sub-committee chair of Licensing closed down the entire debacle saying: “There is a culture of drugs at fabric which management cannot control,”. A massive setback for the local and international culture indeed, it is still not known how major the following shockwaves will prove to be.

What initially began as a suspension of their license following the death of two 19-year old men consequently handed the fate of the club into the hands of a debate which was scheduled to take place at Town Hall. After a last-minute uproar by world-renowned DJs and the creation of a petition to save the future of the club, which ended up boasting of 150k signatures, the efforts unfortunately failed to affect the decision in any possible way.

Moreover, Alan Miller, Chair of the Nightlife Industries Association, said that NTIA will start the Fund For Fabric to fight against the decision in hopes to change the course of Fabric’s future. For further updates, stay tuned!
