If you’re into progressive and synth based techno, you are ought to have heard of Matt Lange. He’s been making news for a while now for his work with Anjunadeep and then mau5trap. The most notable appreciation came from deadmau5 who publicly lauded his new material and put out Lange’s deep house album “Ephemera” on his Mau5trap imprint last September.
Having graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Synthesis, the flair for technical skills showcased in Lange’s album are not shocking. They are, however, welcomed by and large by the EDM community. Having played at major festivals like EDC Las Vegas and TomorrowWorld, it is safe to say that Matt Lange is now a public figure in the world of EDM, especially Deep House.
Ephemera was praised for its quality brand of electronica while maintaining the universal dance-ability of the tracks. We’re in for even more of the album with a new remix package being released by Matt Lange featuring select racks worked on by host of producers such as ATTLAS, Trifonic, and Clear Skys. For a special look into the album, Lange has premiered the track “My Love Aside” remixed by Mat Zo.
Mat Zo, who has confessed to being a devout listener of drum’n’bass has given the track an interesting spin without losing the essence of what worked so well for Lange. The remix has a quality of darkstep to it jumping into heavy drum n’ bass beats right from the get go. However, a minute into the song it mellows down to revive the haunting quality of the original. From there, it is a stellar buildup as it goes into an intense rhythmic build up landing into the drum’n’bass score of the remix. Overall, the track is truly a perfect spin to the track adding to what works and elevating it to a previously undiscovered level. Listen to the track below and let us know what you think!
