Earlier today, French producer/DJ David Guetta unveiled the highly anticipated anthem for UEFA Euro 2016 as he was handed over the duties back in 2015. As per much fanfare, the track titled ‘This One’s For You‘ seems to dabble into house realms and makes use of fan chants as vocal chops to craft a melodic yet upbeat piece. However, rather than the anthem release grabbing headlines, DJ Snake tore his fellow French mate a new one as he called him out on Twitter to label his new track as ‘horrible‘ and even took a step further to mark it as a ‘fake Lean On‘.
In a since deleted Twitter rant, DJ Snake went after David in a brutal manner with ‘Lean On‘ collaborator Diplo also joining in to put a certain fact into focus that he definitely can’t rip their track and go unnoticed. As a series of memes followed, it would be interesting to see how David Guetta responds back to these allegations.
If you take my personal opinion into account, the two tracks do tend to carry certain similarities but only if you try to compare both of them while listening to the Euro anthem, which for me isn’t the best way to go about it. Two tracks may have genuine similarities, and it’s not at all strange for two producers to employ similar production tricks. While ‘Lean On‘ remains to be a vocal centered piece, Guetta’s effort seems to be lost in white noise and is genuinely a major shift from his usual sound which then again justifies the anger of the two producers.
