Understanding The Groovy Heavy Techno Sound Of Pleasurekraft
As their name suggests they have been crafting immense pleasure for their fans right from their beginning. From being one of the most sought after acts in last few years of underground music scene, Pleasurekraft have made a name of themselves as they have evolved with an incredibly unique style of their own.
For Swedish / American DJ duo Kaveh Soroush and Kalle Ronngardh, it all started with an idea in 2009 when they became perfect hedonists and started exposing groove that’d capture anyone in no time and all one could do was surrender with pleasure. Carrying forward their ridiculously magnificent style, Pleasurekraft are now doing just that!
First in the hit catalogue of Pleasurekraft came in spring 2010 when they had their greatest success with the track ‘Tarantula’. A quick support came in labor of these young and talented from global DJs like Sasha, John Digweed , Nic Fanciulli , Danny Howells and Lee Burridge to name a few.
Shortly after doing a few successful remixes like Miles Dyson’s ‘Hearts Under Fire’ and Saeed Younan’s ‘Yeah Ha’, they released yet more classic singles like ‘Anubis’ and ‘Carny’. There was no looking back for Kaveh and Kalle from here as their sound had already crossed the shores. The sound of Pleasurekraft has been a visceral and simultaneously cerebral experience. Seductive, deep and groove heavy underground techno sound that creates exactly the same experience is the signature sound of Pleasurekraft.
Their ‘Satyr Song’ still rules some of the most underground sets and their collab with Belocca for ‘Murdered Out’ on Coyu’s Suara is a gem. Never restraining to techno, Kaveh and Kalle have had flawless productions in deeper and techier side of house music. Their remix of Tube & Berger’s ‘Slipknot’ is a masterpiece and their joint effort with Green Velvet for ‘Skeleton Key’ is our all time favourite.
Pleasurekraft & Format B’s work on ‘Coltrane‘ left us with unrelenting head bobbing, hence giving way to completely surrender to ‘dancing’. The result of their own motivation and enthusiasm, the duo vibrantly re-launched their Kraftek label in 2013 that is their gift back to the music they love. Their massive edit of Bontan’s remix for Josh Butler‘s ‘Got A Feeling’ took the label by the much needed storm in no time. The track also received a feature on their label native compilation Kraftek Villains Vol. 1.
One of the highlights has also been Booka Shade’s ‘Crossing Borders’ that received a phenomenal remix from them and gathered a lot of attention back in time. Pete Tong & John Monkman’s ‘The Bumps’ got transformed by the duo last year to an even more wicked version and still stays one of the top-notch productions we heard last year.
Pleasurekraft teamed up once again with Tiger Stripes recently for ‘Primed’ and we’ve to say it’s no less than their earlier successful collab ‘Satisfy’. The recently released EP by the duo on Octopus Records remain our favourite with ‘All Bite, No Bark’ playing at our HQ everyday. Thats right, ‘All Bite, No Bark’ on repeat!
