Deadmau5 managed to do what he does best, only this time to probably a million fans. The Canadian DJ and producer, who’s also an avid gamer, played a surprise set at the DOTA 2 finals, a game for which he also released a music pack recently.
Playing to thousands of fans at the venue, and millions via live stream, Deadmau5 played his cult single ‘Strobe‘, but abruptly played Avicii’s ‘Levels‘ for 10 seconds, before running a sarcastic victory lap and going back. Deadmau5 trolling at its finest.
However, the entire performance wasn’t taken well by a lot of gamers, who took to Twitter to voice their displeasure, and Deadmau5 of course, hit back.
@deadmau5 Could you really not just play an upbeat song? Did you really have to play some shitty minimal edgy mix? #ShutUpandPlaytheHits
