Hailing from Harlem in Netherlands, Willem van Hanegem & Ward van der Harst often known by their popular stage name as W&W, are among those rich and fortunate artists who transcended their own genre precincts and out did themselves in whatever rolled their way. The duo met each other back in 2007 together to form W&W and haven’t looked back since. Having kick started their career in dance music with popular trance remixes for the likes of Armin van Buuren, Sean Tyas and Aly & Fila to name a few, they moved on to fusing styles and combining the uplifting and melodic elements of trance with the raw intensity of electro and progressiveness of house to create a sound uniquely their own.

Contagious, uncontrollable and extremely enthusiastic, their list of productions is supported by the likes of Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, David Guetta and more for its breadth, variety and gigantic appeal to various audiences. Right from their earlier works like the deep ‘Impact’, to the acid-rubbed ‘AK-47?, synth-driven ‘Moscow’ and floor thrashing ‘Shotgun’, to later projects like ‘Invasion’, voted as official anthem for the “A State Of Trance 550” world tour, anything and everything that this duo was cooking inside the studio, was literally taking dance floors and arenas by storm.
Whereas, we’ve to say, just as we sensed, 2013 came out to be even more massive for W&W. ‘Lift Off’, the incarnation of their multi-dimensional sound, ‘D# Fat’, their much-admired collaboration with Armin van Buuren, the enormous ‘Jumper’ with Hardwell and Beatport #1 smash and the most played track of Miami Music Week 2013, ‘The Code’ with Ummet Ozcan, all landed this year. Their remix of Armin van Buuren’s ‘This Is What It Feels Like’ feat. Trevor Guthrie has topped the charts and ‘Thunder’ that initially remained as an ID and a much awaited single from their sets turned out to be the official AMF (Amsterdam Music Festival) anthem.
As the duo currently sit at #18 in the DJ Mag Top 100, by now they’ve dominated the dance floors and festivals around the world with their hot and sizzling fusion of big room, progressive and electro house sound. Their joint production ‘Rocket’ with Blasterjaxx, ‘Waves’ (Tomorrowland 2014 Anthem) with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, ‘We Control The Sound’ and ‘Shocker’ with Headhunterz last year caused enough mayhem at festivals and arenas around the globe and altered the duo into one of the most sought after big room acts in dance music.
It was around three months back when the duo finally returned the studio with #1 DJ Hardwell and Fatman Scoop and produced ‘Don’t Stop The Madness’ that is undoubtedly now in the list of one of the most successful tracks of their career. If that wasn’t enough, W&W continue to prove their status as innovators and tastemakers in the scene and it’s quite visible from their latest single ‘Rave After Rave’ that has just been released on their own record label Mainstage Music.
