Carrying forward the legacy of their genre defining series of mixes, Ministry of Sound has just announced a brand new edition of the much anticipated trance mix compilation of every year, the Trance Nation. In the previous Trance Nation releases we have seen UK stars Above & Beyond, Lange and Andy Moor and European trance generals Ferry Corsten, Cosmic Gate and Rank 1. Whereas the series reached a step ahead last year with Egyptian superstars Aly & Fila’s 2014 masterpiece.
The 2015 edition of Trance Nation is mixed by an artist who has achieved both underground kudos and mainstream acclaim at the same time. You got that right! It’s none other than one-of-a-kind legend Simon Patterson. Having earned his place as one of the most celebrated names on the global trance scene, Simon holds a close-fitting unbroken record of 17-strong run of Beatport Trance Chart #1s. With this stature already, undoubtedly no other artist could have been a better fit for a job of mixing such a prestigious compilation.
Trance Nation mixed by Simon Patterson features 36 incredible tracks personally chosen and imaginatively mixed by Simon, including no less than 7 global exclusives. Music from main stage stars such as Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Paul Oakenfold, Astrix, Sean Tyas and others, as well as the cream of the crop from trance’s Class of 2015 stays strong in the compilation. Patterson had to say about the record:
What I’d like people to experience from this album is the kind of journey you would get when I play an extended six or seven hour set at my ‘Open Up’ tour nights. As it begins, you get a little bit of tone through, which then expands and expands into a mass of sound, when the lid is finally cracked wide. This album is an insight into my broad electronic musical tastes and is a progressive build in the traditional (and very real) sense of the word.
From Simon’s own studio work, his exclusive remix of ‘Fire In The House’ from indie-rockers Hard-Fi, his forthcoming Ministry of Sound cut ‘Drop The Bass’ and five other massive tracks and reworks are included. Two of the other outstanding pieces of work from Trance Nation are Harmonic Rush’s ‘The Acid Test’ and Eddie Bitar Vs Fady & Mina’s ‘Shamiram’.
Known for adding significant amount of acidic basslines to his productions, ‘The Acid Test’ just as the title suggests is no less massive than other psychedelic trance tunes by Harmonic Rush. Whereas Vandit’s Eddie Bitar with Fadi & Mina have teamed up for emotional trance structure that’s heart-melting right from the beginning, builds up and turns into an uplifting monster you would never expect.
A straight reflection of wide-ranging musical tastes, Simon’s mix here is fluent between the deep, tech and tough trance strata, embraces harmonic, melodic and euphoric elements and without missing a beat slips up into Goa and Psy peaks. Lovers of trance, mark your calendars as Trance Nation lands on April 5th. Check out two exclusive previews from the compilation and the mini mix along with the full track list below:
