Vivanta & DJ Dispensary Return With Sound Lab: A 3 Day Intensive DJ Workshop
Vivanta at the Taj President, Mumbai, in association with DJ Dispensary, return to bring their illustrious concept ‘Sound Lab’ . The school is created with an intention of letting aspiring DJs get into a fun classroom mode and experience a brand new spin on the art of DJing. Now, Sound Lab returns with its third semester that will focus on art of DJ’ing, equipment familiarization, beat matching, and a crash course on the worldwide House music phenomenon, from its roots in NYC disco through to today.

In keeping with the young energy and vibe of Vivanta by Taj – President, Mumbai, we are happy to launch the third season of Sound Lab in partnership with the renowned DJ Matty and his DJ Dispensary, UK. We are delighted to offer our guests the opportunity to learn the art of DJing and we welcome all keen music enthusiasts to participate in these workshops.
Returning to India again in a span of 10 months for the third season of Sound Lab, DJ Matty Wainwright, and founder of DJ Dispensary was looking forward to this session as it promises a complete musical experience compacted into 3 intensive days.
We’re very excited to be revisiting Vivanta by Taj – President, Mumbai and are really looking forward to catching up with some of our previous retreat attendees as well as a whole new batch of music lovers! The DJ Dispensary aims at giving participants a sneak preview into the art of DJing with a brief history lesson in the form of the independent documentary film ‘Maestro’, (which explores the history, roots and spirit of New York’s House Music scene from disco to the present day) equipment familiarisation and beat matching. From a personal viewpoint, the Vivanta Sound Lab series powered by The DJ Dispensary aims to give its participants a clear understanding of what it takes to stand in a DJ booth and present a personal musical account of yourself with a strong emphasis on reading the crowd and building a set.
The course offers a sparkling opportunity for budding and aspiring DJs, who are seeking to enhance their skills whilst learning from the best in the industry. At the end of the last course, students were given the opportunity to spin a DJ set to showcase the skills they had incurred in the days of the course. The event is scheduled at contemporary Asian bar Wink, from Thursday, October 16 to Saturday October 18, 2014. Priced at INR 18,500 per day, the 3-day retreat will be taught by expert DJ tutors Matty Wainwright and Phil Cooper and will incorporate packages for both resident and non-resident guests. The spin doctors will also conduct express sessions priced at INR 9,200 per hour.
