Despite Reports Apple Has No Intention of Shutting Down Beats Music

After acquiring Beats Music for $3 million last month, there have been conflicting reports regarding the fate of Dr.Dre and Jimmy Iovine‘s brainchild. While the streaming music service accumulated 5 million downloads and over 250,000 paying subscribers in a matter of months, Apple made no space for it on the new iOS 8 and merely gave it a cursory mention over the release of the iPhone 6, with no pre-installed app for the giant. On the other hand, iTunes has faced a drastic downfall in downloads and subscriptions over the past 2 years. While Tim CookCEO – Apple, sides with the ‘human curation’ that Beats is an accumulation of, it is hard to see where Beats Music really is headed. With a library of over 20 million songs that can be streamed on-demand by users, Beats Music was, to many of us, no less than a savior. Despite the dismissal of its inevitably dark future by Apple, we can only wonder how long the subscription based app will last till it is either merged or evaporated by Apple according to its convenience.
