The Mad Decent Block Party made its third stop of its 2014 edition in Columbia, Maryland featuring a wide range of electronic music from the likes of Cashmere Cat, Wolfgang Gartner, Dillon Francis, Flux Pavilion and Diplo ofcourse. However, local news outlets have reported one man dead and another teenager in serious condition, following the all day event that occurred at the Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Tyler Fox Viscard, 20, of Raleigh, N.C, was taken to a local hospital shortly after 9 P.M on Friday, according to Howard County Police statements, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. From what officials say, his death appeared to be drug related, however, an official decision is yet to be made on the actual cause of death.
Along with this unfortunate turn of events, around 20 people were also hospitalized because of drug-related events along with a 17 year old boy from Woodbridge, VA in critical condition.
During the event, police also issued 50 citations for under-age drinking and made 3 arrests. Those arrests included: an assault on a police officer, domestic assault, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
As Mad Decent Block Party continues along on its 22 stop tour across the nation, we can only hope that these sort of incidents don’t repeat themselves. Our prayers go out to the near and dear ones of the deceased.
