Chris Lake has come out with a new track; ‘Squeak’, and following the negative reviews he has taken to Facebook to make his stand clear:
“So, my new single ‘squeak’ came out on Friday. It’s available on beatport, and I’m happy with it. It’s fun, it’s simple, it works. It’s not a ballad, it’s not deep, there’s no vocal, it’s not got the biggest drop, but it’s something I made to play in clubs, and I do that most sets. It does bug me some of the very harsh things people say online about my music beyond ‘not liking it’ though. It gets very personal. It’s not needed, really it’s not. I also know people are used to getting similar sounding records from an artist all the time, and that doesn’t happen all the time with me, but I like making all sorts. The next records I plan to release are different from what I’ve released for a while now. It may shock some of you, but at the end of the day I go into my studio and write ideas without thinking how to market Chris Lake, and how to get more fans on socials. I’m unapologetic for that. I just love writing music. What comes out, comes out. If you like it, great, if not, no problem. I don’t care about the current fashion either, or what people expect. That’s other peoples fault for putting people into boxes. So going back to what I touched on earlier, I’m writing a lot of material, I’m hoping you’ll get to hear a lot of it soon. I live this. That’s the simple truth, I like many musicians wake up every day, with my first thought being music, and my last thought being music. I can’t shake that. It’s been happening to me now for 16 years. It’s my main form of expression.
It’s all about the music”
