One of the most disastrous effects that each and every large-scale dance music festival leaves behind is the pollution. One of the most overlooked environmental issues, garbage continues to pile up as ravers care two hoots about actually maintaining the venue to reflect its best. An honest shout out to all those involved with the cleaning of festival grounds post-concert, it is indeed a strenuous and frustrating task to clean up after strangers, I’m sure we can all agree on this.
However, EDC’s founders Insomniac Events are setting a fine example by showing their support for Mother Nature. Keeping the giving spirit in mind, Insomniac collects $1 per ticket and #$10 per guest list invitee and uses the collated funds to donate them to various non-profit organizations. With Earth Day in mind, Insomniac is donating $10,000 to TreePeople, a Los Angeles based organization that works to create abundant greenery and water supply.
Pasqualle Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac said,
“Through Insomniac’s work with the great team at TreePeople, I’ve learned what an important role trees play in everything from keeping our air clean to conserving water. I hope that our fans will show their love and support alongside us by pledging to make a positive impact on Mother Earth because we can all use a cooler, cleaner and greener place to live.”
“With Los Angeles experiencing a historic drought, we need to make every effort to both conserve water – and help our city’s trees to survive,” says TreePeople Founder and President Andy Lipkis. “We are so happy to have Insomniac’s loyal fan base be a part of positive change.”
