Incase you got up yesterday, without realizing what day of the year it was, there was a good chance this news made you sit up and take notice. Social media was abuzz as news of Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5‘s social media platforms were all getting knocked down one after another by hacking group Anonymous. It was perfectly disguised by the Mau5, as through the course of the day, a systematic takedown of each platform, convinced most of his fans (including us to raise eyebrows at the pertinent possibility) that Deadmau5’s various profiles were indeed hacked! However, a meme assisted with a tweet revealed the prank and certainly made for a good laugh and applause for Joel.

With Deadmau5’s Twitter feed going all haywire, one could have assumed it to be simple April Fool’s revelry, but when his live feed on his chat room saw him in a visible panic-mode, the possibility began to seem tangible. The icing on the cake would be when his Facebook profile too saw the mysterious appearance of the Guy Fawkes logo with two swords forming a crossbone, leaving a message “WAY TO USE THE SAME PASSWORD”. Social media went kaput, as some fans raised concerns whereas other suspecting an April Fool’s prank admitted to the possibility of it being true. Alas, all were much relieved as Joel dismissed all the panic with a simple meme and a simple message “April Fool’s You Tools!!”
