Martijn Garritsen aka Dutch sensation Martin Garrix meteoric rise in the world of Dance Music has been nothing short of a fairytale come alive. The ‘Animals‘ hitmaker has gone from strength to strength over the past year to laud milestone after milestone. The 17 year old has headlined festivals, traveled across the globe and won over scores of thousands of fans through his productions and DJ sets. However, in a shocking turn of events, it seems that the youngster has hung up his boots and decided to turn his attention entirely towards his other passion – travelling!
In an interview with a US based magazine ahead of his Ultra Music Festival performance, Garrix went on to state that “he’s already tired of ‘Animals‘”, and feels the pressure of coming up with a follow-up track to match its enormous success are far too much. Given the enormity of his success, he stated he can afford to simply step away from the game while he’s on top, and pursue other passions that he’d put on hold. An avid fan of travelling and exploring new places, life as a globetrotting DJ has been good to Martin, as he has traveled many places already and keeps sharing his experiences with his fans on social media.
While we are shocked and surprised at his sudden decision to retire, we would like to wish him the all the best for his future endeavors and sincerely hope he makes a return to dance music in some form or another!
