One part of the indie group, The XX, and solo producer/remixer Jamie Smith or Jamie XX as we know him is finally set to release 2 singles this coming May. The artist hasn’t put out a single since 2011, and this is would be his first dual release since then.
You may recognize this track, because it circulated in November as “Untitled” and was unfinished. Now we can enjoy the final/official product, which is even nicer.
The production, in itself, is incredibly sublime, and quietly beautiful. It is filled spacey, abtruse melodies that swirl and fade. Added to it are disembodied snippets of a chopped up vocal sample that flow so smoothly with everything else that makes this track what it is. All laid over an incredibly subtle yet groovy beat. It’s absolutely dreamy, sounding minimalistic and overflowing at the same time. The title Sleep Sound is more than apt.
