In a recent interview, renowned producer/DJ, Steve Aoki spoke about his forthcoming album, ‘Neon Future’, which is expected to be released via Ultra Music this summer. He also said that, fans could expect to see collaborations with the likes of Will.i.Am, Snoop Dogg, Machine Gun Kelly, Mac Miller, Waka Flocka, and Linkin Park which can be seen as a marked effort on Aoki’s part to blur the line further between electronic music and other genres such as rap and rock. The Dim Mak head honcho also said that;
Whenever I work with different artists I expand as a song writer, as a producer, and I always want to try and find that bridge between my world and their world. And that’s what we did with the Linkin Park collaboration, “A Light That Never Comes.” Find that place between the Linkin Park world and the EDM world.
He further went on to pledge that ‘Neon Future’ shall continue to ‘break down genres’. Although a daring statement which creates tremendous expectations, Aoki has given his fans a peak into what he envision’s for the future of dance music and having recently completed his successful ‘Aokify America’ tour with Waka Flocka, Borgore and Pharrell Williams, it’s not too shocking that we will be seeing at least one of these names on his album.
