There have been a few instances where certain streaming services have said to have had their issues with paying artists previously, however YouTube has claimed that they as an entity are not one’s be fired at because they have paid the music industry over $1 billion in ‘the last several years’, according to Vice President Tom Pickett.

Now, all of us know that YouTube runs an ad-supported model, which is generating money and at least some of that is going to the artists and the people who push their creative content onto the site and reaffirming that, the company has gone on to defend itself promptly after receiving flak at Cannes this week, and it’s safe to say that they’re making earnest moves to reimburse artists for their hard work.

We will not be too surprised if this issue is raised again if YouTube makes the move to implement their previously talked about premium on-demand streaming service. For now, we will have to see whether or not that plan shall still be executed, but more information on that will be presented as it comes out.
