With any festival of such a large stature, incidents or accidents have an even higher probability of occurrence. The safest bet is to be solely vigilante of your surroundings. The BPM festival which is currently taking place in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico is now burdened with the rumors of their bouncers assaulting one of the DJ’s who was being showcased.
According to BPM Festival’s statement, Darius Syrossian played the opening DJ set at Steve Lawler’s VIVa Warriors showcase, however he was asked to leave the club towards the end of the night, on apparent grounds that he had verbally abused BPM’s staff, thereby reducing a female employee to tears as well as continuing to berate the BPM head honchos. He was then escorted out and BPM had provided the cab fare back to his hotel.
However, Darius has alleged that he was attacked by bouncers, who also threatened him with his life. His qualms also included the fact that he was denied guest list places and he had to cover his own travel expenses, along with being paid a lower fee than expected.
BPM Festival responded with the following,
“All label showcases, including VIVa Warriors, are paid a lump sum and they are responsible for arranging fees internally and paying their artists. BPM provides artists with ground transport from the airport as long as their flight information has been submitted. This was sent to all showcase representatives prior to the festival.”
