Petition launched to make Beatport open two new genres – ‘Big Room’ & ‘Commercial Dance’

Online music store Beatport has been at the forefront of music distribution and has become the world’s largest DJ and electronic music community. Besides an exhaustive library that includes every artist and track that comes to mind, Beatport has become increasingly vocal on the diversifying trends of Dance music. However, certain fans have seen a room for improvement as a new Petition has been launched asking Beatport to open two new categories.

The main reason for the petition is stated to be, the fact that artists under the Progressive House genre seemed to be ‘getting lost’ with most categories fused into one. With two new categories, namely Big Room and Commercial Dance, artists will be able to find their respective audiences in a more comprehensive manner.

Big Room sounds have become an undeniably popular sub-genre of dance music. Raising your hands and letting your hair down to the awesome cataclysmic breakdowns is partly the reason we go for the festivals! Whereas, Commercial Dance music has become an increasingly popular choice of music for certain audiences as well.
