Genelecs are synonymous to high-end professional studio monitors. Highly used by sound engineers and not so much by music producers in general. This time around Genelec has approached a new line of monitors that are focused more towards artists and producers. This is definitely a great move, as Genelecs are known for their amazing sound quality.
The new M-Series range of monitors includes M030 and M040, which have 5-inch and 6.5-inch bass drivers respectively. Genelec has taken a step towards eco-friendly manufacturing which is evident in their new series. Their trademarked Natural Composite Enclosure (i.e. the cabinetry) material is made of wood fiber and recyclable material, which is 50 percent wood fiber, 50 percent polymer/recycled materials. This material also has excellent acoustic qualities that result in efficient control of resonances and maximizes the internal volume. This makes low-frequency sound quality quite crisp.
There are four switches for Output Level (0dB, -10dB and -20dB), Bass Level, Bass EQ and Tabletop EQ. Each of the EQ option is well crafted to tweak different areas of the frequency spectrum. The accuracy of these toggle switches is best understood once you actually get hands-on experience with these incredible monitors.

Whether recording and mixing, or composing, these monitors offer uncompromising sound quality needed for music creation. Its sound quality is quite similar, if not the same, to the professional studio line of Genelecs. This is amazing as the price difference is quite high between the two series.
The M-Series delivers a solid, uncompressed bass, which ensures that there’s perfect low-frequency information to help you make the right edits when you’re sitting and making music. The mid-range sound quality is quite precise and there is no distortion even at high sound pressure level. The tweeters sound impeccable, which showcases Genelecs state of the art designing that ensures perfect integration with the woofers making the sound more wholesome and genuine. All in all, the detailing in terms of sound is exceptional which makes it a very good choice for all artists/producers.
We must say that Genelecs have taken a good step towards green manufacturing which would probably influence a lot of other companies into looking into these aspects as well.
