Toolroom Records’ 10 Years Of Dance Music: The Documentary

Toolroom's 10 years of Dance music

Back in 2003, the British newspaper ‘The Guardian’ notably affirmed that ‘dance music was in terminal decline’. Mentioning the veracity of superstar DJs and bland, unimaginative music as the reason fans were leaving the genre, it appeared at the time to be the buck point for dance music.

Yet out of these vestiges arose some of the most determining dance record labels of today. 2003 was the year in which Toolroom, Size, Armada and Buzzin Fly and a few more majors were born.

This documentary tells the story of this volatile decade emerging in the toughest year for the music industry and how these labels survived and are now flourishing in 2013. A decade which saw the art of DJing and performances being changed by new technology. Some of the biggest acts in dance music give their truthful and candid opinions. In the documentary, Toolroom TV also gets the unique, behind the scenes access to the likes of Steve Angello (Swedish House Mafia), Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, Sub Focus and Loco Dice at their most straight.
